• Tympanoplasty: Tympanoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to repair the eardrum (tympanic membrane) and, if necessary, the middle ear bones (ossicles). It is typically done to treat conditions such as perforated eardrums, chronic ear infections, or hearing loss due to middle ear problems.
• Mastoidectomy: This surgery involves the removal of infected or damaged tissue within the mastoid bone, located behind the ear. It is often performed to treat chronic or severe ear infections (mastoiditis) that have not responded to other treatments.
• Stapedectomy: Stapedectomy is a procedure to replace the stapes bone, one of the three small bones in the middle ear, with a prosthesis. It is typically done to treat conductive hearing loss caused by otosclerosis, a condition where the stapes bone becomes immobile.
• Myringotomy and Tympanostomy Tube Placement: This is a common procedure for children with recurrent ear infections. It involves making a small incision in the eardrum to drain fluid from the middle ear and the placement of tiny tubes to promote ventilation and prevent further infections.
• Cochlear Implant Surgery: Cochlear implants are electronic devices that are surgically implanted to restore hearing in individuals with severe or profound sensorineural hearing loss. The surgery involves placing electrodes into the cochlea, the inner ear's hearing organ.
• Otoplasty: Otoplasty, also known as ear pinning surgery, is a cosmetic procedure performed to reshape and reposition the ears, typically for individuals with prominent or misshapen ears. This surgery does not affect hearing but improves the ear's appearance.
